WHAT IS TIPAQUE BLACK SG-101?

TIPAQUE BLACK SG‑101 is an inorganic, chromium‑free IR‑reflective black pigment designed to reflect near‑infrared radiation while maintaining a neutral, deep black color.

Unlike conventional black pigments that strongly absorb infrared energy, TIPAQUE BLACK SG‑101 selectively reflects NIR wavelengths, helping to reduce surface temperature rise in outdoor and sun‑exposed applications.

Key material characteristics

  • Calcium Titanium Manganese Oxide (Inorganic mixed oxide)
  • Chromium‑free composition
  • Neutral black tone = No complicated color adjustments necessary
  • High reflectance in the 780–2500 nm NIR region

WHY IR‑REFLECTIVE BLACK MATTERS

The limitation of conventional black pigments

For many outdoor applications, conventional carbon black and Fe‑Cr black pigments can:

  • Absorb near‑infrared radiation
  • Cause significant surface temperature increase
  • Accelerate thermal stress, deformation, or degradation
  • Limit design freedom for dark colors in heat‑sensitive systems

SG‑101 is designed as a value‑added functional pigment, enabling heat management without sacrificing black aesthetics.

PERFORMANCE DATA

Spectral Reflectance and Temperature Rise Suppression Effect

SG‑101 exhibits significantly higher reflectance in the near‑infrared region compared to conventional black pigments, while maintaining comparable visible black appearance.

Spectral Reflectance

Under infrared irradiation, SG‑101‑based formulations show
reduced temperature rise compared to conventional black pigments.
